Hemoglobin A1C / Glycohemoglobin – $29

Lab Doctor – Fort Lauderdale’s Most Affordable Blood Testing Center

Diabetes Management Test

Instead of taking a Glucose Test to measure your levels at one moment in time, the HbA1c Diabetes Management Test from Lab Doctor evaluates your average blood glucose control for the past few months. This Diabetes Management Test measures the percentage of hemoglobin in your blood that becomes linked to glucose (called glycosylation). A higher percent means there is more glucose in your blood, which is not desirable for blood sugar control.

Your HbA1c is normal if it is 5% or less. A value of 7% or more means your diabetes is poorly controlled. Abnormally high values mean you are at increased the risk of developing complications from diabetes, such as eye and/or kidney disease, nerve damage, heart disease and stroke. If the results of your Diabetes Management Test are abnormal, bring them to your doctor, who may require further testing. A Diabetes Management Test is essential for those with diabetes, as glucose levels can not be determined by symptoms alone.
